Just wondering how some of you who have adopted children of a minority group handle such things.

I got my feelings kind of hurt the other day. I have always thought that if I ever adopted, I would adopt from China. I have done some research into this area and really like one agency. They sent me the paper work and a bunch of other stuff including a brochure with the most ADORABLE little girls. There was one who was obviously a young baby with no hair. She was so precious. I showed someone that I know and who seemed excited for me the brochure and she made a statement that she didn't think "Ghandi" was very cute. Then she started telling me about a story that she heard on TV that might make it easier for people to get "nice white babies". It really hurt my feelings. I am also an extremely sensitive person, so maybe I am over reacting.

How do people who adopt children who might not look exactly like they do deal with such statements? I am probably going to get a "thicker skin" I guess as racism in the country is alive and well.
