Yes, you will be sore after your lap. I did extremely well after mine, but I was very sore. I couldn't bend over to tie my own shoes. Yes, you will need to take off a couple of days of work. The first day of my lap, I slept the rest of the day and puked all night. I went back to work the third day and it was too soon for me. I went back to work before I could have a bowel movement (don't mean to be gross) but I seriously thought I would die sitting in the same position all day long. You will be sore and you will need help and you will need a couple of days off. Overall, though, it isn't unbearable. I had my lap because I had pain. I don't know if doctors generally do it for anything other than symptoms. I had pain and some questions about my hsg and ultrasound. You can e-mail me. Take care. Leslie
