: Have a few questions on laparoscopy: can it be performed with local anethestic, rather than general? (Deathly afraid of anethesia, due to some bad past reactions.) And is scarring very bad? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks very much!

I had a lap back in March. I believe you need reg. anethesis as it is a surgical procedure. I was also scared to death but now that it is over it was not to bad. I was in pain for a couple of days but at least I now know more info. They made a small incision at my belly button and another lower down by the pubic line. I have a tendency to scare REALLY BAD. I have had birh marks removed with the scarring worse then the birth mark but I have to say my re did a great job and it is hardly noticable.
