My apologies for the long post, but, I desired to clarify a point from my earlier post (located at the end of this one. My wife and I have gone through 13 procedures, starting with IUI, and proceeding through IVF. We have male factor, specifically, antibodies on 99.6% of my sperm, on the head, mid, and tail portions. At age 41, my wife was told, by a prominent dr here, that she had LUF, and as I stated earlier, the symptoms appeared to me to be Premature Surge, to which you agreed, Dr. Grunfeld. You suggested that after so many cycles, the best treatment for us would be IVF. I question this, and would like to expand a bit, if you will answer. Even at 41, with 1 tab of clomid per day, my wife produces several eggs. On Lupron, Follistim, Pergonal, etc., she produces an abundance of eggs. The question is this, As long as she is producing adequately, should we not use the least invasive procedure? I do not see how we gain from turning to ivf, other than to negate any premature surge, and does not increase the odds of conception appreciably.

We have had 2 pregnancies besides the one child, and both only lasted for several days. Do we truly gain much by IVF?

Thanks for your time, and bless you, once again.

I have Several questions here. Can Premature surge be treated, and if so, with what, and also, how about luteinized unruptured follicles? With the LUF, is that a
permanent condition, or might it vary from cycle to cycle?

Finally, my wife was told that she might have had LUF while on follistim, but her follicles were 13 and 14, which sounds to me more like Premature Surge. Thanks
for any and all responses. God Bless you ladies out there! We have been through 13 attempts at pregnancy, from IUI through IVF. We have been blessed with one
child from the IUI, with Donor (we have male factor), but the heartache is still there for another child. How many tears have been shed through our ten year
walk......Like the sands of a beach, to innumerable to count.

Be blessed, and do not give up hope!

Dennis
