: Janna: Thanks for your advice. I was pregnant in my early 20s, during my first marriage, but had a miscarriage. I didn't marry again till years later. My husband has a low sperm count, but my tubes are open, my uterus is normal, and I am healthy and young-looking. The major problem is my age, because as we all know, the genetic quality and viability of our eggs diminish as we age. What "option" would you (and/or a doctor who might respond to this post) suggest that would maximize my chances? My doctor thinks that IVF would be too much of an expense for something that is not a sure thing. But, I suppose that the first step is to see if/or how many eggs I produce and make a decision then. I know I would make a wonderful mother, but I do recognize the "reality" of this all. Thanks for your good wishes.
: : As gently as I can say it, I think you should listen to your doctor's honesty. Women who conceive at your age are extremely, extremely rare, and usually have shown heightened fertility throughout their lives. Perhaps consider spending your money on an option that has a chance of working. I know its painful, and I wish you good luck on your journey.
