Hi there!
I'm dealing with a new endocrynologist, who is starting over insofar as hormone level testing is concerned. I'm interested in getting an accurate diagnosis, and since so many disorders mimic the symptoms of PCOS, I know sometimes sensitive tests are in order. I have heard of some doctors pegging a patient with a PCOS diagnosis as a catch-all when something else was actually wrong with them after all, and others missing a perfectly accurate diagnonis of the disorder for lack of knowledge.
What tests should I make sure she administers?
What else should I ask for?
Right now, I'm getting basic hormonal testing, do I need anything more sophisticated at this time?
How can I become a partner with my new doctor when I have very basic insecurities dealing with them after years of being treated like a hypochodriac?
I want to participate in my own diagnosis and care, but I don't know where to begin.
