: I've recently been diagnosed as PCOS positive by a gynaecologist. I have a lot of the symptoms associated with the syndrome including hirsutism, abnoral periods, depression and fatigue.
: However, I am not very overweight (10 lbs), do not have high bp or cholesterol. In fact, my cholesterol is very low. Also, I had the GTT done and it shows that I have both low blood sugar and low insulin (below normal at each hour).
: Gyno put me on marvelon and the next day, I got my period for 10 days (I'd been without one for only three months). Then, a week later, I got my period again for approx. 10 days. Is this normal?
: Previously, I'd been diagnosed by an endo with adrenal hyperplasia, but later tests showed this not to be the case.
: I've gone to another endo who wants to do some more tests once I go off the bcp.
: Is this definitely PCOS? What else could it be?
: Thanks
: Jackie

There are many possibilities for the etiology of what you describe. PCOS is a syndrome of symptoms as you describe including lack of menses and hirsuitism. Treatment is important but should be made after the diagnosis is established. It is often helpful to see an RE to help you sort this out
