: I have been going to a doctor for hypothyroidism for about 6 years now. I have taken synthroid and have had no results. I moved and found a wonderful dr. who thinks that in addition, I may have PCOS. She has changed my synthroid to thyrolar and put me on glucophage at the same time. I am slowly getting back to regular menstruation, but am unsure whether it's due to the glucophage or thyrolar. I had an ultrasound with cysts found, however my bloodwork showed normal sugar levels prior to the glucophage. Dr. prescribed 3 glucophage a day, and I found I can only withstand taking one. What can I do to find out if I have PCOS or just symptoms of hypothyroidism??
: Thank you so much!

Many of the symptoms of PCO and hypothyroid often are similar. Also, you could have both. I would suggest that you see an RE in addition to your endocrinologist to help sort out your situation. By what you describe, there is not enough information to make any diagnosis.
