I don't believe pg rates, m/c rates, or birth defect rates are lower with ICSI. It's not considered an experimental procedure -- ICSI has been around for nearly 10 years now -- and is considered a standard practice when eggs can't be fertilized naturally. I think you can rest easy that the procedure is medically safe.
