Is Conceiving Inconceivable For Me?

My name is Sulli and I just found this site. I am single, 39 and unfortunately have been through premature menopause; however, I recently started having periods after nearly 2 years without, and that got me thinking. My doctor has not been very encouraging as far as getting pregnant, but says anything is possible. Has anyone had a similar experience?

I'm lucky in a couple respects - I have a dear friend whom I've known for 20 years who wants to be a donor dad. I'm also lucky enough to have a friend who would be an egg donor if that's what it comes down to. Even my mom is supportive of this. What a weird way to get a family!

I'm not sure if it's even possible for me to have a child - I think it's something like 8 out of every 100 women who have gone through pof still manage to conceive - but I literally don't know where to start - particularly since I'm not in a long-term relationship! Do I ask my OB/GYN to refer me to an RE, whether I'm a candidate for fertility drugs, or what. I just don't want to sound totally dumb as I begin pursuing this. I'd love to hear others' experiences, and would be more than happy to share what I learn.

Thanks in advance!

Sulli
