If you know the date of your conception the interval from conception can be used for calculation. The firs sonogram performed 25 days post ovulation demonstrates a sac of approximately 5mm in diameter. If conception dates are unkown a titer of HCG can be used. While sacs can be seen if the HCG titer is greater that 500, they must show up at HCG of greater than 1500. The higher number should be used because an absent sac at 500 mIU/ml can still be normal. Remember that these numbers were calculated for singleton pregnancies.
