You are very fortunate that your egg quality is normal for your age. If you have a known cause to your infertility, proceeding to IVF is always most productive. If your infertility is unexplained, there is no good evidence that IVF is better than ovulation induction and IUI. It is my impression that IVF is better, but we only get a live born rate of 16% in women over 40. Each doctor has his/her own opinion on the subject. Find an RE whose style matches your own.

: Hi,

: I am 40 and will be on my first IUI cycle this month. My FSH is 7 and my E2 is 21. Am I wasting my time with IUI? Should I go directly to IVF? I know time is not on my side.

: Thank you for your response.
