This actually sounds more like ineptitude (and perhaps understaffing) than something bad that they aren't telling you. But, I would ask them about their policies regarding returning calls, how they handle after hours problems etc because when you go through an IVF cycle you will want to feel assured that you will get your calls answered in a timely fashion to minimize the stress. Though most places are much more responsive once you are actually doing IVF. When I was doing IUI cycle/preparing for IVF my calls were answered generally within 24 hours, and then within an hour or 2 during my IVF cycle and my dr's assistant would give me a sense of when he was doing callbacks which helped enormously. Every place seems to have its little quirks about these things eg my dr responds well to faxed questions so he knows ahead of time what I'm calling him about and it saves him time.

: thanks for your kind words- I am going to a MD who works with NYU- I even called back and left a message for a nurse ( by the way, I am a nurse!) to get back to me regarding something about the medications I was supposed to bring, and I still have not got a returned call. I guess I will be a much better nurse now that I am on the receiving end. Your nice note did make me feel better- sometimes I feel so alone and afraid.

: thanks
