Diagnostic laparoscopies have been performed with local. In infertility, however, laparoscopies are reapartive rather than diagnostic. It is therefore preferable to have the procedure under general so that a complete assessment can be made and abnormalities can be corrected. Remember that IVF is an alternative to laparoscopy if tubal disease is suspected.

: Have a few questions on laparoscopy: can it be performed with local anethestic, rather than general? (Deathly afraid of anethesia, due to some bad past reactions.) And is scarring very bad? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks very much!
