I put off writing a response to this because I am very uncomfortable with the whole immunological/infertility issue. There is very limited evidence to demonstrate any benificial effect of IVIG treatment for treatment of infertility or miscarriage. You did not tel us why IVIG is being considered. Do you have hypothyroidism? Are your sycles regular? Are you experiencing miscarriage or infertility? If you have antibodies that have resulted in hypothroidism, you should treat that problem with thyroid replacement. There have been a very few reported very serious side effects of IVIG treatment. In the absence of a clear indication and proof of its effect I would steer clear of it. Please understand, there are some physicians who seem to believe in IVIG as a treatment. Unfortunately their belief is just that, a belief based on a hunch and very little evidence.

: Any views on use of IVIg for treatment of antithyroid anitbodies. What are the risks of this therapy? Any recommendations of doctors in NYC with special expertise regarding these issues?
