I'm a 20 year old who has had painful, heavy, and long periods. The excessive pain started when I was 16. After changing medications, doctors, and going through tests to make sure I didn't have endometriosis, my doctor suggested depo injections. I started 300mg shots (usual dosage is 150mg) under the advice of my gynecologist. Since then, about a year and a half now, I have not had a period and have gained 30 pounds. I have also had several other problems that I wonder whether or not were caused by the depo. I am seriously considering stopping the shots but I wonder if I have done irrepairable damage to my body since I don't know what the long term effects are. Can anyone help?
