: I am opposed to Clomid in a woman >40. Although it may work, there is data that it is less effective in older women. I do not feel the medication itself will cause you harm, EXCEPT for the time lost trying a therapy that is less effective than other potential therapies. This is medical opinion and other physicians may disagree.

: : I would really like your advice. My RE wants me to try an IUI with clomid. I keep hearing that for over 40 woman clomid isn't very helpful. He seems really against doing injectables. He felt that the response was just as good if not a little better with clomid. I'm 40.10 and my fsh was 6 and my e2 was 62 last month. He says the e2 is slightly elevated but didn't seem overly concerned. I conceived my dd at the age of 39. Two months prior to her conception my fsh was 8 and e2 was 78. My RE doesn't view my fsh and e2 as improving. He views it as unchanged. I'm taking that as a good sign. But, of course, still no pregnancy. What's your opinions on the clomid? Do many woman in their 40's conceived and carried to term with clomid? Will it totally mess up my cycle?? I think that's one of my biggest fears. Thank you!!!
