They normally do look for a heartbeat at 6 weeks. But my doctor told me that you can't really call it a miscarriage unless you don't see one by 7 weeks. Let's hope you see one by Monday. Best of luck.

: Hi

: I haven't posted lately because there has been a lot going on and I needed the time to sort it all out. I am currently six weeks pregnant. At first I thought that it was an ectopic pregnancy, but that was ruled out by the beta numbers, they were rising. On SUnday, I saw red blood spotting and that frightened me. I called my doctor to tell him of this and they got me in. Well now I am faced with a threatened miscarriage, which gives me a 50-50 chance that this pregnancy will survive. They did locate the gestational sac, and there was a shadow of the yolk sac, does anyone know if that is what they are suppose to look for at this time. I think that they are at this time also looking for a fetal heart beat. Could someone please let me know if that is true.I do feel depressed but at the same time given the odds of IVF, I have 3 failed under my belt, 50-50 may not be so bad. I am trying to think optimistically, but whatever will be , will be. If by MOnday things don't look up on the ultrasound, my doctor wants to do a D&C, that I am not looking forward to. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks for allowing me to share.
