Dear kma:
The meaning of this for your next pregnancy depends upon the number of pregnancies you are carrying, whether or not you have been DES exposed (did your mother take diethylstilbesterol, a synthetic hormone to prevent miscarriage, while she was pregnant with you), whether or not you have had multiple procedures on your cervix (cone biopsies), and the cervical length. Cerclage may or may not help. Certainly ultrasound monitoring of cervical length and frequent check ups while you are pregnant are warranted. With a single fetus you may not have any problems at all. I would discuss all your concerns thoroughly with your obstetrician. Good luck to you.

: I miscarried my ivf triplets at 18 weeks-incompetant cervix. I went for pre-conception consult (before I pay for next ivf) and was told my cervix is abnormal in shape!! It's the first I've heard of this. Does anyone know what this means for my next pregnancy? I was planning on cerclage, but are my chances of it working lower now?
