As far as I know, IVF/ICSI is the only option. I can explain it in lay terms as best as I know. The sperm retrieved from MESA are immature and don't swim. The reason ICSI is needed is that they have to be physically placed into the egg, as they cannot swim there themselves. IUI would not be an option, as the sperm have no way to get to the egg.
