Dear POC:
A polyp can cause symptoms like abnormal bleeding. It is thought that the more normal your uterine cavity is, the better the chances for pregnancy. When you are undergoing infertility therapy, polyps are usually removed to normalize the cavity. Removal is fairly simple through a hysteroscope (a thin telescope placed into the uterus through the cervix). Sometimes this can be done in the office, although some people feel more comfortable having anesthesia.

: Hi,

: During my last two IUIs I have bled and this I'm told was not normal. I will be having a sonogram to confirm if it is a polyp(or whatever else) that is causing this. How can a polyp prevent pregnancy and what is the tx. to extract them?

: Thanks.
