I was also surprised that the MDs don't make the beta follow-up calls themselves. I was called by a nurse every time I had a negative beta, and even the last time when I finally had a positive.
Anyway, I don't think who makes the call is that important. The more important thing is the follow-up appointment. Time is of the essence in infertility management. Delaying each cycle adds up. I agree with the post below that you should have a follow-up scheduled for immediately after each cycle, just in case.
