I think most of us would agree you definitely should get more opinions. You also should not be afraid to choose someone other than your regular OB/GYN to do the surgery. I know when I was in a similar situation (although not with fibroids), I was very confused about who to see. I got referrals and worked my way into appts with 1-2 different gynecological surgeons, and with an RE. I wasn't sure REs were interested b/c I am not trying to conceive just now, but want to later. However, it worked well, and even though my OB/GYN could do the surgery, I chose an RE. Perhaps your fibroid is more difficult than most, but many people have fibroids removed without destroying their potential for carrying children. Start asking EVERYONE you know to recommend doctors, or who their doctors recommend. Good luck!
: I am a 24 year old who was just diagnosed with Uterine Fibroids. My OB/GYN has suggested that they try to remove them. If they do that she says I will not be able to carry a pregnancy to term because they will remove part of the uterine walls with them. I am so upset about this but I don't feel like I want to give up on having children yet. I am not sure where to go next. Should I have a second opinion? Would going to an RE help things any? I would appreciate any help!!!
