Dear Tiffany:
I am very sorry to hear about your loss. You have been through a lot this year. Very early pregnancy losses are usually due to problems with the pregnancy itself. The type of loss you describe is actually fairly common among women who have no history of infertility or other health problems. I think of it as nature's way of preventing a child with a severe birth defect.
As far as the nutritional/herbal supplements, I would not recommend taking those while pregnant. At this time, we do not know enough about these substances to say whether or not they are safe in pregnancy. At some point in the future, we may find that they are helpful or harmful, but there is not enough information available now. Having said this, there are very few substances identified that cause birth defects and miscarriages of a normal pregnancy. I hope that this information is helpful and good luck to you.

: I had my 2nd miscarriage in one year. I lost both babies at 3-4 weeks along. I have severe endo, and have been trying for over 2 solid years. I had my 2nd lap in May, the first in Dec. Is it my body that is rejecting the fetuses? Or is it something natural, like something was wrong with the fetus? My doctor says that my body looks fine and that I am not lacking any essential hormones. What is your opinion? My first beta on this baby was 33, then 34.7 (48 hrs later), and 5 (4 days after that). I am worried and need your advice. Also, I am still taking prenatals and will continue to do so to ready myself for hopefully another pregnancy. I am also taking vitamins for uterus and ovary care. It contains vitamins and gingko, rasberry tea leaf, and wild yam extract. Is that ok to take while pregnant? I am also taking bee-pollen, for my endo, I heard that is good. Let me know what you think... I appreciate your help and want you to know that you doctors are something special to be here to answer all of our many questions. sincerely, Tiffany
