Lorrayne,
From what I have read, it is not all over yet, and your doctor probably did not mean to leave you with that impression. After all, he wants to see what happens next month. You SHOULD, however, be able to talk to him or someone at the clinic about your FSH levels. Of course like all working people doctors are not always available to each of us at the drop of a hat, but you should be able to telephone and have him call you back. Or you could ask about an appt. with the counselor, who can maybe help interpret the results. And yes, FSH levels can vary monthly, so next month's could be okay, although from what I read even transiently high values are associated with diminished likelihood of success.

And I know it is really hard when doctors are so abrupt or callous in delivering bad news, or in not explaining to you the reasons they give certain advice. I left my gynecologists in tears the other month because she was so mean! But it doesn't mean they don't care, though--they are just taught to express their caring by giving us good medical treatment. I actually think it's good that your clinic has couneling available--those people are probably much better to talk to than the doctors.

I wouldn't switch REs based on this incident. It sounds like the result of just poor internal office communications. You might want to wait for the next test, and then firmly explain you want to have a consult with your doctor to interpret the results.
