the phone during my cycle as I always have questions. It is not the most satisfying dr/patient relationship!! The only way I know it works a little better is when you go to a smaller practice that works with one of the big 3, the way Dr. Grunfeld does with St. B's. Then you see him or another dr, but it's not a different dr each morning.

: Hi ladies,
: I've been reading a lot of posts about getting 2nd opinions. Many of you have very positive things to say about your RE. This may sound like a very silly question, but how much contact do you actually have with your RE? My experience (at one of NYC's 'big three') has been that I meet with my RE before the cycle starts (or more accurately, after the last cycle failed!). Then once the cycle starts, ultrasounds are performed by whomever is covering for that particular day. Same is true for retrievals & transfer. I just finished my 2nd IVF cycle, and only saw my RE once -- and only because I bumped into him on my way to the ladies room! He sure wasn't on his way to visit me!!! Don't get me wrong - I'm happy with all the other RE's I've been dealing with, but I just wondered how often do other folks actually see or hear from your primary RE?

: Thanks for the insight,
: -Kate
