: My daughter who is 20 years old has pcos. What I do
: to help her? Are there other parents out there with daughters with pcos?

I am 34 years old and have had symtoms of PCOS since I was very young but I was not diagnosed with it until last year. My mother has not spoken to me about my diagnosis since I told her a year ago. I love her dearly, and it's not that she isn't concerned about me but she doesn't always know how to be sensitive so sometimes she just lets things go. I think sometimes the only way she knows how to be involved, is to suggest or tell me what to do. From a daughter's point of view, what I would really cherish, is if my mom could say to me that maybe she didn't have all the answers I need but that she would be there through the years for me to hear my concerns and offer her support whatever way she knows how. Your daughter is young and, from what I understand, many women with this diagnosis don't experience very unusual or unsolveable problems. But even just letting her know that you are there for her I am sure would be a huge comfort to her.
