Dear Anna: Many fertile couples require more than one ovulatory cycle to conceive, and only about 1 in 4 couples conceive during the first cycle. So if you really are ovulating, you may just need to give it a little more time. Of course if you really do have PCOS you may not ovulate every month, and you also may have a "luteal phase defect" - inadequate progesterone production following ovulation which may cause infertility or miscarriage. If you're ovulating but not conceiving you need to be checked for other causes of infertility. If you're very young you may want to give it some time on your own, but if you're "older"- mid to late 30s or 40s- you should be checked sooner. A full evaluation should include a semen analysis and a hysterosalpingogram to check the uterus and tubes. Most important is to speak to your own physician with these questions. If your doctor is not a reproductive endocrinologist I would encourage you to consult with one. Good luck!

: I have pcos. Last month my doctor while doing the ultrosound, said that i will ovulate next day, so we had intercourse 4 days in a row, hoping that i will get pregnant. I did not. Why? I was ovulating, so how come i did not get pregnant?
: Thanks
