I think that you should ask your doctor to lower your dosage on the metformin. I was on 1000mg and when I went up to 1500mg I had a bout with diarrhea. I went back to 1000mg and I've been having normal periods ever since, before I got pregnant!
Everyone is different, but that is my experience with metformin.
