Mabel: I am not a doctor but I will take a stab at this. I think the short answer to your question about your little boy is no. The long answer is a little more complicated. There is evidence of a genetic predisposition for PCOS though they have not identified any particular gene. Some have surmised that the genetic predisposition can be inherited from a woman's father as opposed to her mother. (For example, in my family, we don't know for sure but we suspect that my father's mother -- who died at a young age of complications from type II diabetes and who only had one child and who looks like she had PCOS from photos -- had PCOS.) Others have said that early baldness in men is the "male version of PCOS." But I believe that there is no real scientific data to support this. In any event, there is no evidence of which I am aware that your son will have any of the symptoms of PCOS. Ellen
