It does sound like you have PCOS but be sure your physician has tested for other causes of hair loss (scalp) and excessive hair growth (body - these include thyroid and adrenal gland disorders. As for glucophage, it is a good drug in select cases. You should be tested for insulin resistance before taking it.
: Hi, I am in my late 40's and diagnosed with POS 15 years ago but never treated. It sounds like there is good hope with Glucophage. I am over the time of wanting children, but have lived with excessive facial hair and loss of head hair for years. Regarding facial hair, I am now looking into laser treatment, but over all of the years waxing and tweezing seems to be the best and easiest to do at home or anywhere. Regarding hair loss I moved to wigs early and found a hairdresser in LA who uses hairpieces and a glue to have them stay. It is magic and works! I am interested more in the new Glucophage since my weight is also an issue. I've been on the Atkins diet and that did help me lose weight -- now I know why --- too much sugar with this condition makes weight management impossible.
