Dear Lisa K: Most of us who use glucophage for PCOS stop the glucophage as soon as the pregnancy test is positive. I am not aware of any data regarding any effect of glucophage on miscarriage in PCOS. IF you are diabetic (not just insulin resistant), then poor diabetes control can cause miscarriage. Generally, any diabetic who does not respond to diet alone and requires medicine (such as glucophage) to control the diabetes will be given insulin during pregnancy. Insulin resistant PCOS patients (who do not have diabetes) should be carefully screened for gestational diabetes (diabetes only during pregnancy). Again, speak to your doctor, and get a formal second opinion if you're still confused. Good luck!
: I am taking glucophage because I have PCOS does this help with this disorder? Also the doctor who put me on this said you can take it while your pregnant to decrease your chance of miscarriage. I am currently trying to get pregnant for two years now.
