Carolanne: You might repost your request with a note in the subject box for one of the doctors to answer. I am not personally aware of published research studies reporting that metformin reduces miscarriage rates though you can probably do a search on medline. The higher miscarriage rates for women with PCOS is probably multifactorial -- it may be due to higher insulin levels, it may be due to higher weight since obesity itself puts you at higher risk for miscarriage. I do know that many respected doctors won't continue metformin during pregnancy because there is a big question mark about its effect on the developing fetus though other doctors feel comfortable prescribing it.
