I was diagnosed 6 years ago w/PCOS. Recently experiencing rt. side ovary pain. Have had two ultrasounds recently. Pain seems to be because of adhesions. New concern is uterine lining. 1st u/s showed it to be 15mm plus thick. Follow-up after menses shows it to now be 5.5-6.5mm thick. Ultrasound person said this was within normal limits. My periods are fairly regular (30-37 days), heavy for a few days, total time 4-5 days. Do you think it is necessary to do a biopsy to check for abnormal cells? All my paps have been normal. My obgyn has suggested a hysterectomy and removal of rt. ovary and tube. I have been seeking a second opinion with a RE doc. I have completed my family. She will leave left ovary intact. I am 40 yrs old and presently not being treated for the PCOS. Should I be concerned about endo cancer at this stage? Any advice on next step?
Thank you.
Kim
