I think I answered this question already but, again, I wouldn't assume that your RE tested you for insulin resistance despite your PCOS diagnosis and despite the fact that s/he is a well respected RE at an excellent center. But, as I noted above, I think that this will be changing as more and more REs are brought up to date with the role of insulin sensitizing agents in a) managing PCOS over the long term and b) fertility treatment. Dr. Stein (where are you Dr. Stein?) has spoken eloquently about a patient who came to see him after being treated by another RE for quite some time. Dr. Stein did all of his standard tests for PCOS, including glucose and insulin levels. It turned out that the woman had frank diabetes and her previous RE totally missed the diagnosis because he never tested her. To me, that is a cautionary tale and presents a strong argument for testing insulin levels in all PCOS patients. Ellen
